It’s been a while
Hey. It certainly has been a while. I’ve been busy.
Earlier this year, shortly after we posted our last episode with Kandi, I wound up accepting two jobs and starting them around the same time. Now I only have one of those two jobs, something that my brain and mental health I’m sure will thank me for once my body resets. But that’s sort of why I’m here writing this blog that’s a little more “update on Mike” than what we had traditionally been writing about.
I started Local Originals at a time when I was really starving for what I had set out to do years ago, tell interesting stories about interesting people. They didn’t have to be famous, they didn’t have something to plug, they simply had something to share. I genuinely find people interesting, I’m not saying I LIKE all people, but even through their faults the way they arrived at their current destination has always fascinated me. Back when I was running Greetings From the Garden State that was the plan, at some point along the way I think the show got away from that a little bit, not to say it was bad it just wasn’t doing what I needed it to do anymore.
That ultimately led to burnout, I wasn’t enjoying it anymore so I stepped away for a bit. Took some time to reconnect with makes me happy. I spent more time with my wife and dogs. I got a couple bartending gigs that made me remember how fun for me it is to listen to someone’s story (and believe me being behind a bar you hear some wild shit). So when I started putting this idea together (shoutout Crisi for thinking of the name), I wanted it to go back to my roots and here it is. A loosely defined platform that tells stories through different mediums. I’ve loved diving into photography more, I forgot how much I like to write now that I’m already a few paragraphs into this blog, and now that I have a little more free time, we’ve been exploring some new places that I have come to really enjoy.
Basically, all this to say, I’m back bitches. We’re going to be working on some new projects very soon. I have some guests lined up already, we’re going to be filming with them in the coming weeks and hopefully getting you some new episodes before the end of the summer. The photography work will continue, and I’ll be more active getting you stories that you actually want to hear about.
